Supporting the Community that Supports Us!

Here at Cockermouth Travel, we love to support local organisations and initiatives. Alongside our Tree Planting Scheme  we are always exploring more ways we can contribute and give back to the community around us! Take a look at what we are currently getting involved with…

Flower Planters & Bird Boxes!

Paul has been busy outside of the office making some fabulous flower planters and bird boxes to raise money for Cockermouth Emergency Response Group and Hospice at Home!

Some were sold as part of Cockermouth Charities Weekend and some more were sold at Cockermouth’s Christmas Light Switch On….Paul even left with a quite a few orders!!

Cockermouth Christmas Light Switch On!

We brought the Wheel of Fortune out for this year’s Christmas light switch on!

It was a great afternoon with something for all the family from the lucky dip to the chance to be entered into the draw to win a luxury hamper! Even Cinderella, Belle and The Grinch had a go!

Thank you to everyone who came! £251 was raised, which we matched to donate £502 to Hearts of Gold West Cumbria.

Cockermouth School Travel Bursary

Every year, we donate a £1000 travel bursary to Cockermouth School. This is to assist pupils who may not otherwise have been able to afford to, join their school trips. So far, this has helped pupils go on an Amazon Adventure, to explore Peru and even climb Kilimanjaro!

Cockermouth Show

One of the highlights of our year is having a stall at Cockermouth Show. Every year we do something a bit different to raise money for our favourite charity, Hospice at Home West Cumbria with activities from The Cornhole game to the Wheel of Fortune we keep the whole family entertained!

Our Themed Evenings

Each Autumn we hold some fantastic themed evenings, providing some fabulous first-hand destination experience and information! Each themed evening, we invite an experienced tour operator to share their vast knowledge and personal experience, giving our clients a chance to really explore what that destination offers and to glean some exciting ideas and inspiration!

We have a small charge for all our themed evenings and any talks that Paul does to local organisations, we then match the amount raised which is then donated to a different charity each year!

Over the years, our themed evenings have been a great success! Including our Italian night, which we held in the beautiful ceremony room at our local Town Hall. We were wowed by the Typically Italian team, we even got to sample some food that Massimo from the Portico De Romagna Cookery School prepared for us! We also had Danny from Hurtigruten come and bring Norway, The Arctic and Antarctica to Cockermouth with his fantastic visual presentation, and Jonathan from First Class Holiday’s took us on a journey through Canada with his expert knowledge!

Keep an eye on the Cockermouth Post for what our next themed evenings hold!
