Zoe’s Hurtigruten Expedition

Last month I had the opportunity to embark on an Expedition Voyage with Hurtigruten from Nova Scotia up to Newfoundland. What an experience!

We boarded the MS Fram in Halifax after a quick tour of the city, a lobster lunch and a visit to Peggy’s Cove – definitely one of the highlights of our trip!!

As we sailed up to St Johns & St Pierre and Miquelon there was opportunities to attend lectures on environmental issues, the areas we were going to and also a fabulous one on photography…which as a non-photographer, I found actually very interesting!

The Expedition Team’s knowledge and passion was so evident and really made the voyage special! Their experience is definitely invaluable on these Explorer Voyages!!

Whilst at sea we were able to visit where all the expedition equipment is kept on the ship, such as kayaks, tender speed boats and thermal suits – essential on the Arctic & Antarctica Voyages!

One of the many highlights was watching whales from the deck and even spotting an iceberg!!!

Although an Explorer voyage, the standard of food, service and accommodation was absolutely brilliant. The staff were the most friendly hospitality staff I have ever met!

On our way home we had a night in Boston, which I had heard great things about, and I was not disappointed! What a city…it has a relaxed feeling about it whilst having so much to see and do. In our short visit we were able to take a Boston Duck Tour (fabulous!), take in the amazing view from the Skywalk, and visit the Langham hotel for brunch – WOW!!

This was definitely a trip that I will never forget!!
