Our Iceland Adventure by Paul

I took Hiccup & Heartburn to Iceland at Half term (the country not the frozen foods shop!)

Day one was a beautiful bright sunny day & we did a fantastic whale watching trip from the old harbour in Reykjavik. We were lucky enough to see a school of around 40 Dolphins and watched a Humpback whale playing really close to the boat for about 30 minutes! It was an amazing day out & I’d love to do it again.

On day two we took a fantastic “Superjeeps” Golden Circle tour which included visits to Thingvellir National Park the Viking parliament, Geysir which looks like the surface of the moon where we watched Strokkur geyser erupting, Gullfoss waterfall which is like a smaller version of Niagara falls but in the middle of nowhere and finally we went off roading on the Langjökull glacier where our good old British “landy” climbed to the top easily, passing big American monster truck stuck in the snow in the process!

Days three and four were a bit more relaxing and we took time out to sample some local cuisine – a creamy fish soup for me & pizzas for the kids followed by a visit to the Whales of Iceland museum (fab), some shopping (not so fab! It’s very expensive!)  and finally we had a few hours in the very very relaxing Blue Lagoon geothermal spa complex.
