Cheryl visits Florence on her Italian tour

Day 5: of Cheryls Italian tour
After our lovely visit to all the mentioned Umbrian & Tuscan towns we headed to Florence for a few hours before finally arriving in Venice.
I feel I can’t write much about Florence as quite frankly I wasn’t there long enough, what I can say is it is a very compact city with loads of very narrow streets that lead either to a square of some sort or a large shopping street. You can walk from one end of the city to the other in less than an hour an…d it is all pretty much flat.
We were taken by a local guide to the Square where the Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria dominates its surroundings.
We then moved on to the Political Square where huge statues of David, King Neptune & other historical and mythical figures could be found. Those statues really were something to marvel at.
Our last stop was the Accademia Gallery where we stood and listened to the story of Michelangelo’s sculpture of David. He really is a work of art.
And so onto Venice to the city of love.
