Bethan’s tour of Western Australia

Recently I was lucky enough to experience Western Australia and all the highlights it has to offer! We started off by flying to Perth on the 17 hour flight from London Heathrow with Qantas which was very comfortable and had lots of inflight entertainment to put the hours in. After arriving in Perth we took a short transfer to Fremantle where we stayed for 2 nights. Fremantle is an old port town with great restaurants, hand craft beers and lots of history behind it. What better way of familiarising ourselves with the area than segwaying around it!

Next stop was Perth where we got to experience lots of wine tasting, delicious food and a trip up Swan Valley to the vineyards. We took the 45 minute ferry over to Rottnest Island which was one of the highlights of the trip! We collected our bikes and snorkels from the ferry and we got to explore the island stopping off at different coves on the way to sunbathe on the white sand beaches whilst trying to get a selfie with a Quokka!

Bethan snorkelling in AustraliaFrom Perth we went back to the airport and took the 2 hour flight up the coast to Exmouth. We stayed at the Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort which I would highly recommend when visiting the Ningaloo Reef! We spent our time doing lots of activities such as snorkeling, kayaking & swimming in the crystal clear waters of Ningaloo Reef. I then had to get over my fear of swimming with the Whale Sharks!! We set off on the boat and the team gave us a briefing of the day ahead. They use a plane to find where the sharks are and once they found one they inform the skipper on the boat and off we went. We were very lucky to swim with around 6 whale sharks that day which was a once in a life time experience and a must do when visiting Exmouth!

After 3 nights in Exmouth we went down to Coral Bay for 1 night where we got to spend more time in the water – this time swimming with Manta Rays! After a day in the sea it was a quick dash to our next activity which was a quad bike sunset tour which was amazing! Driving along the white sand whilst watching the sun set was the best way to end an amazing trip in WA!

I would highly recommend this destination as there is so much Western Australia has to offer!
